The social process of forming opinions on the issues of nanotechnology is underway. A broad public discussion takes place in different areas, eg in the dialogues of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
Policy and experts are aware that a technology such as nanotechnology that reaches far into the future and affects so many areas of everyday life has to be examined early on its acceptance in society as well as citizens should be integrated in dialogue processes.
